Today, I'm going to show you how to hack the new LinkedIn algorithm to attract high quality followers, meaning high engagers and potential buyers 5 times faster than it was possible ever before today. Hi, and welcome to this video. My name is Marco. And in the last few years only, I generated over 4,000 leads for my own company. And if leads, I don't mean some data that i scraped....
With leads, I mean, people that shared the number of me in the chat because they're interested to speak with us about our offerings. Now, obviously, one of the main reasons why we got so many leads is simply because we have a systematic way to increase our followers. And today I will tell you exactly how we do this. But first and foremost, very, very important, never ever buy some followers because this will kill everything. So don't buy any followers at all.
It's not worth it. It really makes everything worse. So never ever buy followers. Now let's talk about some basic stuff that you can find in every single video. Like for example, the first thing is you need to have a fancy profile.
You need to optimize your profile. You need to have a profile that is actually here to sell, that converts and where other people simply can directly see what is in it for them. How to create a fancy profile for this already made a separate video with step by step guidance, etcetera, of how you can do this. The next generic advice that you will find in every single video is about posting stuff. Obviously, you need to post some content.
How can you get followers without posting any content? There, it is important to really weekly post a couple of times every single week. Question obviously is what to post about. This we will talk later. Obviously, you need to post some stuff on LinkedIn.
Next advice, generic advice, networking. You need to send connection requests. You need to send messages to your audience. You need to connect with the people that you want to connect with. There, LinkedIn already gives you the chance to send around 1,000 connection requests a month.
So really do this because the more people you have in your network, the more people will see what you're doing on LinkedIn. Now automatically, when you connect with somebody, you will get a new follower because that's how LinkedIn works. If you're connected with somebody, automatically you follow each other. So with that, you're also able to get more followers as well. Then the next generic advice is you need to be consistent.
LinkedIn is a marathon and not a sprint. You need to do the actions every single day. You need to be consistent. You need to send your messages every day. You need to post your stuff every single week.
You need to do it every single day because, as I said, it's a marathon and not a sprint. You need to be consistent. This is very important, but still generic advice, and we can find every single video that you can find when it comes to the topic how you can get more followers. But now what we will dive into is our masterclass that I created for you here. But before we do this, the literally the most important thing that matters for getting tons of followers fast is to create authentic content.
This is the number one thing that you need to do to get a lot of followers. But now let's dive into it. So now the first question that you need to ask yourself is which content should I post? What you need to do here is you either need to tell a story of something, something incredible that is happening to you or some experiences that you had in the past where you need to create or write a high engaging story. This is one framework that you can follow.
Other framework that you can follow is to post something extremely valuable. There are also, when it comes out to the stories again, some evergreen stories that everyone can tell. Obviously it should be a real story and definitely not something made up, but something that you experience in the past, something that you learned from. There, you can write, for example, a story about a major mistake that you made. This is an evergreen topic.
Another evergreen topic is, for example, where you had to fire your first employee, what you had to learn from that, or something that you learned from a big boss, or something that you learned from where you made a loss and how the boss reacted or where he lost a big business deal or something like this. There are tons of different stories. What you need to think about is how other people can relate to this, how other people can take something out of this, what other people can learn from this. This is the story that you need to write then. So long story short, the goal of this is that the other person can relate to it, that he can learn something from it.
When it comes out to the value post, there you need to ask yourself what problem does your audience has and how you can fix it for them. Or you can also think about what you can give them. But when you give them something, it's extremely important that this is extremely valuable. Like for example, a free PDF report that helps them to solve one specific problem that they're facing inside their business. Something that is really full of value.
Instead of a report, you can also give them, for example, a video training, a cheat sheet or something. In the end, it doesn't really matter what it is. It just needs to provide value. That's what matters. It needs to be helpful to your perfect ring customer and needs to show them that you can help them by actually helping them in advance.
What also works great when it comes to the post or posts where you want to get an immediate response from the audience. There you can, for example, ask them a question to get their opinion on a specific topic, or you can also post some inspirational videos of someone very successful. We call this, for example, the framework standing on the shoulders of giants. So there you can post, for example, a video of a young Bill Gates, of a young Elon Musk, of a young Warren Buffett. And the advantage of this type of posts are that the other person can talk in the comments about themself of what they learned from it themself, or makes them feel good, what builds a connection with you and them because you stand off the shoulder of this giant.
And also in the same time, it really boosts your reach because they commented there. With that, you simply build connection with the audience, especially when you let your guard down. And this is now for the stories, for example, and you show yourself as a real human being because some people are, like, afraid of showing a little bit of a weaker side from them because lately everybody thinks it's so professional and everybody's afraid of posting a little bit of personal stuff. But don't forget, it's still about a connection between 1 human being and another human being. So there, especially in the story, Show yourself a little bit from a weaker side, from mistakes that you made, etcetera, because people can relate to it.
They build a connection to you like that. So in general, you can say the stories and the posts where you want to get some engagement are for building that connection and the relationship with your audience and your posts where you want to give them as much value as possible or for the authority in your market that they, in the end, have the connection with you, plus that they also believe that you really know what you are talking about simply because of the good old principle. Show them that you can help them by actually helping them in advance. So now then, these 3 different frameworks in combination with each other will result in the so called influencer status on LinkedIn. So now the next question, what is the difference between storytelling and thought leadership?
Here it's important to understand why we even have this 2 different variants to start with. The 4th leadership content is here to establish you as an authority in your market. As somebody that knows exactly what he is talking about and that other people see how valuable you are and your knowledge, where they can really see that if they face a problem or if they have an obstacle, that you are the guy to either help them to achieve what they want to achieve or to help them to solve the problem that they are facing right now. The stories on the other hand with the storytelling are here that people can relate to you and feel you outside of your expertise and to feel that you are still a human. This will help you in the end to stand out more because as already mentioned the most people are simply too afraid to do it because they think you can't share anything personal LinkedIn.
But this is completely wrong. It's still a social platform. Even if it is built for professionals, it is still a social platform for connection to be one human and another. So long story short, your stories should let them connect with you emotionally, and your value post should build your authority that you can actually help them. Next very important point, true authenticity.
Of course, LinkedIn is a professional platform, and it's about business. But that doesn't mean that you can't post something personal. Quite the opposite is actually the best because you need to show your true self. You need to be authentic. This is very important because everyone on the platform is still a real human being.
So they are looking for connections between one human and another, even on LinkedIn, believe it or not. The reason why we are telling the stories and let our guard down and share more than a normal person would do is simply that the person can engage with us, that they can get the feeling for our true self, that they not can get feeling about how is now Marco? How does your LinkedIn profile looks like? No. It's about that they can get the feeling how the real Marco is.
The Marco that is known by my family, by my friends, by my partners, etcetera, etcetera. It's about that they can really feel that true Marco. That's what this is about. Here, it's very important that you always need to share the truth about your working life, about yourself, etcetera, post about your past experience, for example, in your old job where you made a mistake and what you learned from it, etcetera. But the most people they're simply too afraid to show their human side.
But believe me, if you do it, they can relate to it because these are still humans. So they want to build relationships and connections with you. And that's why they like you this type of post. And that's why they comment this type of post. And that's why this type of post will get a lot of new followers, a lot of likes, and a lot of comments.
And for sure you're thinking right now, how can you implement all of this knowledge in your business then? It's a lot of theory here and there's nothing I can really grab, etcetera. But let me tell you something here. In the end of this video, you will get from me a little gift. So keep watching.
You really don't want to miss out on the last minutes of this video here. So now, obviously here's the question, what makes LinkedIn different from all the other platforms on the internet? When you simply compare LinkedIn with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etcetera, you will see that they work extremely different. The advantage of LinkedIn is that if you produce good content that gets a lot of reactions after you literally just posted that, LinkedIn will give you reach for a very, very long time compared to the other platforms. So here in LinkedIn, it's worth to prioritize quantity over quantity.
So it's better to post only a few times a week, but well thought and really valuable and especially targeted to help the people that you want to help, AKA your dream client, instead of like in Instagram just posting 5 to 10 times every single day. So here, quantity over quantity. When it comes now to the topic who sees your posts, than simply the ones that engaged with you recently. For example, if you connect a lot with CEOs of marketing companies, then these are exactly the people that will see your posts all the time, especially if you have connections and active conversations with them on LinkedIn. Then as soon as they log in into their LinkedIn account, you will have the post or you will be the person that is on top of their newsfeed.
If you now keep them, this conversations flowing every time and then log in, you are in top of the feed. And if this is happening then, then your content will also be shown to people that you aren't even connected with, where you didn't even have a conversation with. Anything anyone with something like similar interests, also like a CEO of marketing companies, for example, AKA your dream clients, the people that you want to connect with will see it then as well. Because if your post is that good, people that are outside of your network will see it as well, but only people that are also relevant for you. And that's exactly why LinkedIn is by far the best platform for content when it really comes to precisely target and reaching the people that you want to reach.
On any other platform, you are limited to the people in your network. On LinkedIn, you can go far beyond and not far beyond on people that aren't relevant. No. Far beyond on people that actually matter, that are actually valuable for you to have them in your network and to have them see your content. Now something that changed over the last couple of years drastically, because recent study shows that 80% of your engagement on content comes from your mobile and not from the computer, AKA Desktop anymore.
So in 80% of the cases, they see your posts on the phone. That means that you need to optimize your posts for mobile viewing. When you write copies, for example, don't make huge paragraphs. Keep them short and simple. It is easy to read on the phone and not, like, get hexed with 20 paragraphs where you literally can't read because the readability is that bad.
Here it's important to really keep this text to the point of what you want to say. You need to understand here that on the phone, a lot of things are going on. They get messages on WhatsApp, maybe an email notification pops up and in general, just a lot of distractions. When they read through your posts, you need to pull them into your post that they don't want to check anything else because attention is the new currency of the internet. So you need to keep it.
When you write a story, for example, in the beginning, you need to suck them in with a long sentence to open the story, and you also need to set the framework. Then the paragraphs needs to be much shorter that they keep reading simply because when a paragraph is short, the readability is much higher. And if the readability is much higher, the chances that they continue reading it, if what you're writing is interesting and helpful for them, is much higher. Then when it comes to the point and you're learning out of the story, for example, then the paragraphs and the pointer of the whole conversation can become bigger again. And also when you ask, for example, for the thoughts on it, to motivate them, to comment, AKA your call to action that they make a comment, this one can also be a little bit bigger.
In general, you can say that the readability is one of the most important things when you produce your content, when you plan your content. Because with readability, the people who read it, they will get sucked into it, they will continue to read it and not get distracted. And without, you won't get a lot of people that really read your post. So here, I wouldn't do paragraphs that are longer than 3 lines simply to keep the reader engaged and to have the readability as high as possible. As I already said, attention is the currency of the Internet.
You need to do everything to grab it. The first line needs to sell to start reading the rest of your post. That's it. You need to put in a lot of emotions, like something shocking, something painful, or something that comes completely out of the blue because it doesn't make any sense at all. Like, what does a turtle have to do with your business?
So now you start reading because you get curious because come on, a turtle and business, what has this to do with each other? You want to find it out. But you now you want to know what this is all about. And you simply keep reading because it came completely out of the blue. It was shocking.
And now it's told you to keep going because you want to find out the whole story. Here you need to think about the most shocking, the biggest wow, or the most unexpected moment in your story. And you need to start right there. Because it's a matter of fact, if you can't sell them to start to read your post, they won't read it. Your first line only has one single job, and this is to sell them to start reading your post.
Not more, not less, Because if you're not even able to do it, it doesn't matter how good or how valuable your story or your value is if you are not even able to sell them to start reading your post. Last thing I want to mention, please don't do this mistake. Never ever, ever add links to your LinkedIn post. Never do this. Literally don't do this.
Don't be like the 99 percent of people that are making this LinkedIn will literally kill your reach if you do this mistake. But let me tell you why this even is. Here, you need to understand the business model of LinkedIn itself and what they want to do and especially how they are earning their money. They earn most of their money through ad spend, AKA by showing your ads where other people pay that you see their ads. When you add now a link to your post means that LinkedIn to go to a different website, for example.
What means they aren't able to show you more ads? What means they don't make money from you? Obviously, they don't want this to happen. And that's why they will kill your reach of posts with links. But no worries.
Like for every other problem on this planet, there is a solution for it. Instead of putting the link in your post, you can simply put the link in the first comment below the post, because with that, LinkedIn doesn't limit your reach. But what if you get now hundreds of comments in your post? Then the link will simply disappear because, yeah, your comment will disappear. So what should you do then?
There's another hack then. So you have the link inside your comment. So now what you need to do is you need to go to your comment and you click on the free docs to generate a link that forwards the people to your comment. Now, what you need to do is you need to edit your post and you put the link to your comment inside your post. And now when somebody sees your post, he clicks on the link and he gets forwarded to your comment inside your comment, then they see the link to your website.
And simply like that, you're able to get traffic to your website, your landing page from LinkedIn itself without having LinkedIn cutting your reach. Then there is also another solution that is in my personal opinion even better because it, first of all, boosts your post plus automatically qualifies your lead. First of all, you don't put a link anywhere, but you make a call to action in the end of your post that says something like, Hey, if you want to get the link to this free PDF file, leave a bicep emoji in the comments. Then for every person that did this, you reply to the comment with the link to your PDF, for example. Why the strategy is now so good is quite simple actually.
If somebody really puts them a bicep emoji in your comment, it means that he's really interested and he will for sure read your content, what automatically qualifies everybody. And second of all, it boosts your reach drastically because LinkedIn sees that people are commenting on your post. So they think your post is valuable. Because of this, the engagement you are getting is going up. It shows the people that the post to more people.
And when it shows the post to more people, means more people comment with, for example, the biceps emoji, It means you will generate more leads, more people profit from your value. You will get more engagement, you will get more reach, but it is in the end a win win for everybody. So definitely follow it, try it out. You will see it will work like crazy. And as promised, I'm not going to let you hang here with all that theory, but we prepared a free PDF containing all that theory converted into practical templates along with resources, like a LinkedIn post topic, Google sheet, a drive folder packed with a lot of videos.
So you can, that you can post in the end, etcetera. Then you can get this PDF file.
